The Ambassador made an official visit in Lae, first port in Papua New Guinea, and assisted to the lay of the first stone of the Normal School dormitories, financed by the European Union. M. Pascal Maubert met during his visit the Morobe governor and visited several officials of the port authorities, of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry. He mentioned the future economic mission of Business France, scheduled in November 2015.
He went to visit the UNITECH campus, where he met the Vice-chancellor Dr. Schramer. They talked about the development of French classes in the university.
Mr. Pascal Maubert met later the catholic archbishop: they talked about social issues in the province and the support of the UE in the educative sector.
He visited the local French community and evoked the possible arrivals of French companies in the first industrial city in Papua New Guinea.

Finally, the Ambassador went to the Lae War Cemetery and stood by the grave of Lieutenant Alain Robert Gubbay, a French soldier who passed away during the Second World War. Gubbay died during a mission in April 1945, nearby the New Guinea island coasts. The local villagers gave him a decent grave, risking reprisals from the Japanese army
