First visit to Solomon Islands : European cooperation and Francophonie on the agenda
In order to present his Letters of Credence the Ambassador, accompanied by his wife, has paid a visit to Solomon Islands. He has presented his Letters of Credence to the Governor General, in the presence of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, before paying a courtesy visit to the Prime minister.
The Head of the Government has particularly expressed his appreciation for the support provided by France to his country through the Europen Union.
This first visit to Solomon Islands gave the Ambassador an opportunity to meet civil and religious high officials, members of the diplomatic corps as well as representatives of international agencies and the civil society including Transparency International.
H.E. Pascal Maubert has presented Mr. Gerald Stenzel, who has been French Honorary Consul in Honiara since 1986, with the medal of Officer in the French National Order of Merit.
In the framework of celebration of the International Week of the French Tongue and of La Francophonie, the Ambassador and Mrs. Catherine Maubert have been kindly invited to launch the evenings of French Conversation by Mr. Eoghan Walsh.
