Issuing Visas

The French embassy in Port Moresby does not issue visas for France or for any other European or African country.

For a visa for France

For a visa for France
, people should apply at the French Consulate General in Sydney (for ordinary passports) or at the French Embassy in Canberra (for official or diplomatic passports). In case of difficulties to reach these destinations, one can apply, on an exceptional basis, at any other French consular service.

The French Consulate General in Sydney can also issue visas for Wallis and Futuna Islands, French Polynesia or other French overseas territories.
It is reminded that citizens of Papua New Guinea and the Solomon Islands, holders of a return ticket and a valid passport (ordinary, official or diplomatic), can visit New Caledonia without visa if they stay less than 3 months.

For a visa for any other country

For a visa for any other country, people intending to visit these countries for less than 3 months or willing to stay more than 3 months must directly contact the nearest embassy or consulate of these countries. In case of visits to different Schengen countries, it is reminded that one should apply for a Schengen visa either for the country of first entry into the Schengen area or for the country of longest stay.
