New Caledonia: Ready for the Pacific Games 2015 !
New Caledonia is actively preparing for the Pacific Games 2015.
The Secretary General of the Territorial Olympic and Sports Committee of New Caledonia and Head of mission of the team of New Caledonia for the Pacific Games 2015, Mr. Christophe Dabin, has come to Port Moresby from 9 to 12 April with a delegation including Mr. Michel Quintin, Director, and Mr. Paul-Antoine Grangeon, special adviser, in order to prepare the participation of New Caledonia to the Pacific Games 2015.
They met the CEO Peter Stewart and the authorities in charge of the organisation of the XVth Pacific Games, which will take place in Port Moresby (4-18 July 2015) and visited the different venues.
The Games will host 3000 athletes from 21 territories in 28 disciplines. Four of the invited territories are French speaking and the Alliance française de Port-Moresby is currently training the reception staff in the French language.
New Caledonia is the first invited territory to send a preparatory mission. Three French territories will take part in the Games. The Caledonian delegation will consist of over 350 athletes. French Polynesia will send a delegation of the same size and Wallis and Futuna around one hundred athletes.
New Caledonia, which was the host of the Pacific Games, which were created in Nouméa in 1961, three times, in 1966, 1987 and 2011, has been the winner of the Games twelve times.
