Attention: According to the Schengen visas code, the original of each requested document must be presented, and a photocopy of each one must be given to the visa service.
The Embassy will, in no circumstance, make any photocopies.

  • One application form completely and legibly filled in black or blue ink, dated and signed by the applicant.
  • One colour photo (original passport size) with white background. No scanned photos!
  • Passport + photocopy of its identity page

All passports whether diplomatic, official or ordinary must be at least valid three (3) months after the end of the trip in the Schengen Zone or the French territory. The passport must have at least two blank pages left for visa purpose.

Citizens of PNG and the Solomon Islands travelling on diplomatic or official passports MUST obtain a diplomatic note from their Department of Foreign affairs otherwise they will have to pay full fees and will have to produce all the required documents listed below.

Foreigners living in PNG and the Solomon Islands must present a residency permit at least valid 3 months after the end of the trip in the Schengen Zone or the French territory (+ its photocopy).

  • Flight reservation + its photocopy

Present a complete personal itinerary or round trip ticket with confirmed dates but do NOT purchase your ticket until the visa has been approved.

  • Purpose of travel & accommodation + their photocopies

In case of business, provide an official invitation from the foreign company or from the organizing party to attend conference, seminar, training session, sport or cultural event, etc...

In case of private visit, provide a letter from the relatives or friends who are inviting you, plus a certificate “Attestation d’Accueil” from the “City Hall” services of the town where your relatives or friends are residing. The original will be stamped by this embassy to be valid and should be presented upon arrival to Europe.

In other case, the confirmed hotel reservations of your stay must be provided.

  • Financial guarantee + its photocopy

An up-to-date letter from your employer or, if applicable, the last personal bank statements and their photocopies.

  • Medical and repatriation insurance + its photocopy

Present a certificate from an insurance company which will cover you for any medical, hospitalization and repatriation expenses for at least 30 000 Euros during your stay in the Schengen zone.

Note that the Embassy has full authority to evaluate and request more documents than those submitted by the applicant.

Obtaining a visa is not always guaranteed and does not in itself grant you the right to enter a French or Schengen territory. It is therefore necessary that you always carry with you the original documents used to obtain the visa.

You may not apply more than 90 days prior to your entry in the foreign country.

If the applicant is under 18 years old, he/she must provide both parental authorization forms allowing him/her to travel to Schengen countries – plus a copy of the child’s birth certificate and a copy of both parents passports.
