Visit of Brigadier General de Revel to Port Moresby
Brigadier General de Revel has been assuming in Nouméa his functions as Chief Commander of the French armed forces in New Caledonia since the end of August. He has chosen to come a soon as possible to Papua New Guinea, with his wife Isabelle, for a first contact with the authorities of Papua New Guinea, to review the bilateral military cooperation.
During this visit, General de Revel was received at Murray Barracks, where he held talks with the Chief of Staff and the Secretary Defence. Both parties have confirmed their will to develop bilateral cooperation, providing it with an appropriate legal frame-work and relying on regular staff meetings. The quality of the common exercises was reaffirmed as well as the common wish to diversify the fields of interventions, in the perspective of the current reconstruction of the PNGDF.
During his stay, General de Revel and his delegation paid a visit to the team of the French company Spiecapag in charge of the building of the LNG. They had the opportunity to admire the richness of the collections of the national Museum, in the company of Pr André Iteanu and Pr Nicolas Garnier. General de Revel paid a visit to the monument of the Fuzzy Wuzzy Angels.
Mrs de Revel, accompanied by the French Ambassador’s wife as well as the European Union Ambassador’s wife paid a visit to Haus Ruth, where they could meet with the victims of domestic violence.
